As I pass the midnight hour in preparation for tomorrow’s preaching, I’m bringing these short prayers to God:

• May Your Holy Spirit so surround, empower, and illuminate the Scripture as I preach it that my people will hear far more than what I am saying.
• That if they are struck by the Scripture, my people will not obscure repentance with re-dedication.
• That my hearers will not only see themselves for what they are and desire to be different, but that they will also see You for who You are and desire to be the same… as You.

Amen
